Welcome to the SRJC Early Childhood Center

robyn Locke, Director

Begin your child’s journey with us and become an important part of the Shelter Rock Jewish Center Family! We hope you’ll join our family where your Early Childhood Center tuition is your “passport” to free synagogue membership.

New Covid-19 best practice precautions are in place to ensure the health and safety of our students. Many changes include temperature scans, daily parental questionnaires, intensified cleaning, social distancing and increased play and programming in our outdoor classroom.

Please see the video below and contact our director, Robyn Locke at ECCdir@srjc.org to take an actual tour of the building.

Since 1997, we have been nurturing children and introducing them to Jewish values and traditions.

Because our school is a place where intellectual development and curiosity are highly valued, your child will be ready to enter any learning environment with a love of learning and readiness to discover.

The school’s highly qualified and dedicated staff will ensure that each child is able to grow at his or her own pace. We pride ourselves on the fact that we are the only school in the area offering a dual Hebrew/English curriculum.

We offer secular early childhood education while celebrating the values of our Jewish heritage.

Each child brings a unique blessing into the world. The warm, caring environment of our program nurtures that blessing and helps it flourish.

Serving the North Shore communities of Roslyn, Roslyn Heights, East Hills, Port Washington, Sands Point, Great Neck, Kings Point, Lake Success, New Hyde Park, Manhasset, Plandome, Oyster Bay, Brookville, Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Carle Place, Old Westbury, Albertson, Mineola, and Garden City for over 18 years.*

Education and Family Engagement

Testimonials

“I just wanted to let you know that we are so grateful for all the wonderful work that all your staff is doing with our son. HE is learning so much and he is excited about being intellectually curious. I’m so impressed with the curriculum. The other day, our son said: “Thanksgiving started in 1620’s. Mommy” Please give our compliments to the teachers and please find a way to extend your school up to 8th grade. - Kelly, mom in the four year old class

I have two kids in Shelter Rock Early Childhood Center and love the program. My prekindergarten knows all Hebrew alphabet and many words and loves doing homework. The curriculum is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful. The director is one of the best out there and on her game. It’s great to have such an amazing program for my kids so I can go to work everyday with ease of mind knowing my kids are in good hands. Absolutely recommend. - Sheila, mom in the three and four year old classroom.

My heart is melting! Thank you for being so amazing to my kids. They love you! - Patricia, mom of twins in the toddler class

Our program is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). The following are the benefits of choosing a licensed school:

  • Training and Experience - Our staff, with over 15 years of experience, strives to provide the best early childhood education by participating in ongoing training in areas such as safety, nutrition, curriculum, and current policies relevant to childcare. In addition, a degree in education is required for all of our head teachers.

  • Staff-Child Ratios – By following the staff-child ratio regulations we ensure that children are properly supervised and receive all the attention they need.
